Summary of Accounts by activity for the County councils 2008 (preliminary results):
Expenditure for health and medical care continues to increase
The county councils’ net expenditure for health and medical care, exclusive of dental care, was SEK 186.0 billion in 2008. This is an increase of SEK 9.2 billion, 5.2 percent, compared to 2007. According to earlier figures from the county councils’ income statements of 2008, a surplus was reported before extraordinary items of SEK 0.9 billion.
Primary care showed the largest relative increase, 7.5 percent. Included in these expenditures are those for general primary care, nursing care and physiotherapy. Net expenditure increased from SEK 29.8 billion in 2007 to SEK 32.1 billion in 2008, an increase of just over SEK 2.2 billon. A large part of this increase is due to the increase for Stockholm county council, SEK 1.2 billion.
Net expenditure for regional development has increased by SEK 15.8 billon, 9.1 percent, compared to 2007. This is explained by the increased expenditures for infrastructure and traffic.
