Universities of Lund and Gothenburg most popular
For the tenth year in a row, universities in Lund and Gothenburg are the most popular places to study higher education among pupils in the graduating year of upper secondary school 2007/08. Of those students planning to begin higher education, twelve percent wanted to study in Lund and eleven percent in Gothenburg. Next on the popularity list are Uppsala University, Stockholm University and Chalmers University of Technology.
Small interest for technology and natural science among women
Nine percent of pupils in the graduating year of upper secondary school who planning to begin higher education want to study technology, 16 percent of the men and two percent of the women. Seven percent of the pupils want to study natural science, eight percent of the men and six percent of the women.
Large interest for studies abroad
More than one half of the pupils who planning to begin higher education, say they are interested to study a part of the education abroad. The women are more interested to study abroad than the men, 61 percent respective 39 percent. Since the beginning of the survey (1993/94) has the interest to carry out parts of the higher education abroad been larger among women than among men.
