Service Production Index, September 2008:

A drop in service production in September

From 2008 onwards Statistics Sweden produces monthly experimental statistics over the service production. Swedish service production decreased by 1,6 percent in volume and working day adjusted figures in September 2008 compared with September 2007.

The accumulated value of service production for the period of January to September 2008 increased by 1,1 percent.

The volume of service production in the real estate and business sector decreased by 2,3 percent, compared with same period last year. The real estate and business sector accounts for nearly half of the total service sector value added, implying that this activity has a great impact on private service sector development. This activity developed weakly during the period of January until September of 2008 and increased by 0,7 percent in volume and working day adjusted figures.
