National and regional figures from Structural Business Statistics 2007:

Production value up most in Kalmar County

The production value increased in all of Sweden's 21 counties 2007. The number of employees also increased in all counties. That is evident from the survey Structural Business Statistics published today. Structural Business Statistics is the only survey based on the final accounts from all 896 000 active market producers in Sweden.

All counties have increased both production value and number of employees during 2007. Kalmar County (15 percent) had the largest increase in production value, followed by Södermanlands County (13 percent) and Dalarna County (13 percent). Norrbotten County (6 percent) showed the largest increase in number of employees, followed by Uppsala County (6 percent) and Gävleborgs County (5 percent).

When comparing the Swedish counties, three of them dominate the Swedish business sector. The production value in Stockholm County, Västra Götaland County and Skåne County amounted to 58 percent of the total production value for the business sector in 2007. This is approximately the same share as in 2006.

Most industries are concentrated in the three largest counties but there are a few exceptions. Mining and quarrying, for example, is concentrated in Norrbotten County. 59 percent of the total production value in the industry 2007 came from this county.

On municipal level, Emmaboda Municipality showed the largest increase in production value at 39 percent. Karlsborgs Municipality (32 percent) and Munkfors Municipality (29 percent) also showed a large increase in production value. The municipality with the largest increase in number of employees was Nykvarns Municipality (26 percent), followed by Strömstads Municipality (15 percent) and Haparanda M;unicipality (14 percent).

Structural Business Statistics is the only survey based on the final accounts from all 896 000 active market producers in Sweden.
