Living Conditions Survey (ULF):

Four out of ten do not take holiday trip

41 percent of men and 44 percent of women did not take a holiday trip that lasted at least one week during the previous twelve month period last year. Furthermore, 21 percent of men and 25 percent of women did not take a holiday trip nor had access to a holiday home during the same period.

Statistics Sweden's Living Conditions Survey 2010 shows that holiday travel is by and large equally widespread, 65 percent, for all age groups up until retirement. At that time, a gradually sharp downturn in holiday travel occurs. Holiday travel is more common among cohabiting couples (6 out of 10) than among single persons (5 out of 10).

Holiday travel for at least one week among singles and cohabiting couples age 16 and above 2010

Holiday home less common for persons with foreign background

Holiday travel is more common among persons with foreign backgrounds than among those with Swedish backgrounds. However, more persons with Swedish background have access to a holiday home, (including campers, caravans and boats that offer sleeping space) than persons with foreign background. Among men with Swedish background, 6 out of 10 have access to holiday home compared to 3 out of 10 men with foreign background.
