In June 2012 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 years amounted to 4 802 000, an increase of 48 000. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 465 000, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.8 percent. On average the number of hours worked was 148.0 million per week. Seasonally adjusted data show that the number of employed continues to increase and that there is no decrease in the number of unemployed.
In June 2012 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 4 802 000, an increase of 48 000 compared to the same month last year. The employment rate was 67.5 percent. The number of women employed in the private sector were 1 167 000, an increase of 47 000 compared to the same month last year. Seasonally adjusted the number of employed persons amounted to 4 683 000 which corresponds to an employment rate of 65.8 percent for the population aged 15-74.
On average, the number of hours worked in June 2012 amounted to 148.0 million per week, not seasonally adjusted. Taking calendar effects into account there is no statistically significant change compared to June 2011.
The number of unemployed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 465 000 in June 2012, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 8.8 percent. This is the sixth straight month where no statistically significant change for either the number or rate of unemployment can be seen compared to the same month last year. According to seasonally adjusted data the number of unemployed persons amounted to 382 000, resulting in an unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.
The number of persons outside the labour force in June 2012 was 1 844 000, not seasonally adjusted.
