On average the number of hours worked was 125.1 million per week. Seasonally adjusted data shows that the number of employed persons continues to increase. It also shows a slight increase in the number of unemployed men.
In August 2012 the number of employed persons aged 15-74 amounted to 4 738 000. The employment rate was 66.6 percent. The number of persons at work were 3 360 000, a decrease of 67 000 compared to the same month last year. Seasonally adjusted the number of employed persons amounted to 4 671 000 which corresponds to an employment rate of 65.6 percent for the population aged 15-74.
On average, the number of hours worked in August 2012 amounted to 125.1 million per week, not seasonally adjusted. There is no statistically significant change compared to August 2011 when differences in holiday leave have been taken into account.
