Labour cost index (LCI) is a European index delivered to Eurostat quarterly. Between 1996 and 2004, the index delivered where according to a so-called gentlemen's agreement. From the first quarter of 2005, data is supplied by a Council and Commission Regulation.
The current LCI series has 2008 as reference year and accounted for under Nomenclature statistique des activités économiques dans la Communauté européenne Rev. 2 (NACE Rev.2).
The index reflects on the evolution of the total labour cost per hour, that is, include salary, including moving allowances, benefits, sick pay and employer contributions, and bonuses. LCI includes as from 2008, both private and public sectors.

Manual workers and non-manual workers
The index delivered to Eurostat has no division between manual workers and non-manual workers. On behalf of the National Mediation Office two additional LCI series has been calculated, they reflect the change in labour costs for manual workers and non-manual workers. The series on manual workers and non-manual workers are in Sweden's statistical database named LCI man respective LCI non-man. LCI series which is divided between manual workers and non-manual workers do not provide any bonuses and only includes the private sector.
LCI man and LCI non-man is found in the Statistical database.
Wage Index
LCI also includes a wage index, called WAG, for the above groups.
