Environmental protection costs are the expenses paid for environmental protection. This includes investments and current expenditures.
Statistics Sweden each year conducts a survey of environmental protection expenditures within the industrial sector. The work with environmental protection expenditures within the public sector is still under development.
Correction 2012-09-26
Investments in environmental protection and total environmental protection expenditures concerning Air and the industry 20-21 (SNI2007) have been corrected for the year 2011.
Environmental protection expenditure 2011
Environmental protection expenditures in Swedish industry increased by almost SEK 1.1 billion during 2011 compared to the year before. The increase is nearly the same for investment and that for current expenditure in environmental protection. Total environmental protection costs for Swedish industry last year amounted to nearly SEK 12 billion.
