Correction of the Retail Trade Index 2010-03-11:
The Retail Trade Index for January of 2010 has been corrected due to the use of incorrect information in the preliminary calculations for January. This error affected all industries except for the Swedish Alcohol Retail Monopoly and the pharmacy trade. As the Retail Trade Index is a part of the Service Production Index, there has also been a correction to that index for the month of January.
Revision of 2009
As a result of re-organisation within the pharmacy trade, the Retail Trade Index for 2009 has been revised. Those parts that do not refer to retail trade have been removed from January 2009 onwards. The previously published information for 2009 has not been wrong because the operations that were not retail trade have been included in both 2008 and 2009. The revision results in a break in the time series in the form of a lower turnover level during 2009. However, the turnover in 2010 is compared with the new lower level of turnover for 2009 and relevant development figures can be calculated. The revision affects the pharmacy trade, the durables trade and all of retail trade. The development for total retail trade has been revised downwards by 1.2 to 1.6 percentage points for each month in 2009.
This is a sample and registerbased survey measuring the turnover development monthly for retail trade and quarterly for wholesale trade and other services. Published in Swedish Statistical Databases from 1990, in monthly press releases and quarterly statistical reports NV 22 SM.Turnover and inventory statistics for the service sector.
