The development of Service Producer Price Index

A majority of the SPPI: s, which exists today, has been developed since 2000. During the 1990:s SPPI for hotel services, domestic air transport services and non-residential property rent were developed. The main objective is to produce further SPPI: s according to the needs of the National Accounts and in accordance with EU Regulations. The development work is carried out in consultation with the “Swedish Industry and commerce for better regulation” (NNR), relevant industry organizations and with assistance from enterprises themselves. Developments in other countries are also monitored. An updated, practical and comprehensive system for production is being developed and, for the majority of the surveys, data will be collected with the help of Internet questionnaires.

The results of the development work (including industry descriptions) are documented in the Service Producer Price Index development project reports. These are available in both English and Swedish.
