Until 1999 the foreign ownership increased on the Swedish stock market and household ownership decreased. In 2001 a downturn in foreign ownership occurred but the trend has in recent years been increasing again.
Figures include unlisted classes of stock in quoted companies. The corporations included were initially limited to Swedish corporations quoted on the A list on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. In 1989 all other lists on the Stockholm Stock Exchange were added. In 1998, stocks quoted on the SBI list (now named the NGM list), Aktietorget, and Nya marknaden (now named First North), and in 1999 stocks quoted on the Göteborg OTC list were added. In 2000, foreign stocks quoted on Swedish stock exchanges were added.
