  • Shortages of graduates in healthcare and technology

    The Labour Market Tendency Survey 2023 finds major shortages in individuals with education and training in the fields of healthcare and technology. In the coming three years employers expect increased demand for engineers. Those specialised in electrical engineering, energy production, electronics, data science, and automation are pointed out as groups that will be particularly sought after.

  • Major shortages of both teachers and graduates from vocational programmes in upper secondary education

    The Labour Market Tendency Survey 2022 shows a major shortage of both teachers and graduates from various vocational programmes. When it comes to teachers of such programmes, 9 out of 10 employers report difficulties in finding qualified staff. Furthermore, there is a shortage of graduates from vocational training programmes within technology and manufacturing as well as from the transport programme. Shortages of healthcare workers remain for many types of graduates, for example those in specialist nursing and radiography. We also see recruitment shortages for persons with some types of engineering education.

  • Major shortage of specialist nurses

    The Labour Market Tendency Survey 2021 shows a continued shortage of healthcare workers from many education programmes. The greatest shortages are for newly graduated nurses specialised in anaesthesia, intensive care, surgery, and psychiatric care, as well as district nurses. Shortages of teachers and other types of educators as well as recent graduates from vocational programmes in upper secondary education are also reported.

  • Major shortage of district nurses

    The Labour Market Tendency Survey 2020 shows a continued shortage of many educational groups represented in healthcare. There is a large shortage of recently graduated district nurses, nurse practitioners and diagnostic radiology nurses. There is also a shortage of educators and teachers, as well as recent graduates with upper secondary vocational education.

  • Major shortage of specialist nurses

    The Labour Market Tendency Survey 2019 shows a major shortage of nurses - mainly specialist nurses. There is a continued shortage of teachers in many areas of specialisation. At the same time, there is a shortage of recent graduates with upper secondary vocational education. Employees report reduced shortages from certain educational programmes compared with last year.
