Employment rate and the number of employed increased

In June 2017, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 5 129 000, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 111 000 persons compared with June 2016. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 407 000 and the unemployment rate was 7.4 percent. The number of hours worked averaged 156.2 million per week. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show an increase in employment and a decrease in the unemployment rate, which was 6.6 percent.

In June 2017, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 5 129 000, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 111 000 compared with June 2016. The number of employed men increased by 79 000 to 2 678 000, while the number of employed women amounted to 2 451 000. The employment rate amounted to 69.3 percent, an increase of 0.7 percentage points. Among men, the employment rate amounted to 71.3 percent, an increase of 1.3 percentage points. Among women it amounted to 67.3 percent.

Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show a continued increase, both in the number of employed persons and in the employment rate, compared with recent months. The number of employed persons was 5 020 000 in June 2017, which corresponds to an employment rate of 67.8 percent.

The number of employees aged 15–74 in June 2017 amounted to 4 627 000, not seasonally adjusted. Compared with June 2016, this was an increase of 97 000. The number of permanent employees in the same period amounted to 3 783 000, an increase of 85 000. The number of temporary employees amounted to 844 000. Furthermore, the number of employees in the municipal sector increased by 88 000 compared with June 2016, and amounted to 1 225 000.

Compared with nearby months, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show an increase in the number of permanent employees, while the number of temporary employees no longer shows an increase.

On average, the number of hours worked in June 2017 amounted to 156.2 million per week, not seasonally adjusted. According to calendar-adjusted figures, this was an increase of 2.1 percent compared with June 2016.

Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show an increase in the number of hours worked per week. In June 2017, the number of hours worked amounted to 152.6 million per week according to smoothed and seasonally adjusted data.

In June 2017, the number of unemployed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 407 000, not seasonally adjusted, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 7.4 percent. The number of unemployed men amounted to 223 000 and the number of unemployed women amounted to 184 000. The unemployment rate among men amounted to 7.7 percent, and among women it was 7.0 percent. The number of unemployed young people aged 15–24 was 173 000. The unemployment rate among young people was 23.3 percent.

Among people aged 15–74, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show a decrease both in the number of unemployed persons and in the unemployment rate. The number of unemployed persons was 353 000 in June 2017, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 6.6 percent. Among young people aged 15–24, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data show a decrease both in the number of unemployed persons and in the unemployment rate. The number of young people who were unemployed was 107 000, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 17.1 percent.
