The number of employed persons continues to increase

In November 2016, there were 4 947 000 employed persons aged 15-74, not seasonally adjusted. This is an increase of 74 000 persons compared with November 2015, of whom 51 000 were men. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 328 000, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 6.2 percent. The number of hours worked averaged 164.5 million per week. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the employment rate and a continued decrease in the unemployment rate, which was 6.8 percent.

In November 2016, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 4 947 000, not seasonally adjusted, which is an increase of 74 000 compared with November 2015. The number of employed men increased by 51 000 and amounted to 2 598 000, while the number of employed women amounted to 2 349 000. The employment rate was 67.3 percent; among women it was 64.9 percent and among men it was 69.6 percent. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase both in the number of employed persons and in the employment rate. The number of employed persons was 4 941 000, which corresponds to an employment rate of 67.2 percent. Thereby, the employment rate is now on the same level as before the financial crisis.

The number of employees in November 2016 amounted to 4 454 000, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 82 000, of whom 64 000 were men, compared with November 2015. The number of permanent employees increased by 61 000 and amounted to 3 702 000. The number of temporary employees amounted to 751 000. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase both in the number of permanent employees and in the number of temporary employees.

On average, the number of hours worked in November 2016 amounted to 164.5 million per week, not seasonally adjusted. When differences in holidays were taken into account there was no significant difference in hours worked compared with November 2015. According to smoothed and seasonally adjusted data, the number of hours worked amounted to 150.3 million per week, which means minor changes compared with previous months.

In November 2016, the number of unemployed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 328 000, not seasonally adjusted, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 6.2 percent. The number of unemployed women amounted to 151 000 and the number of unemployed men amounted to 176 000. Among women the unemployment rate was 6.1 percent and among men it was 6.4 percent. The number of unemployed young people aged 15–24 amounted to 88 000, of whom 48 000 were full time students. The unemployment rate among young people was 15.0 percent. Among people aged 15–74, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a decrease in the number of unemployed persons as well as in the unemployment rate compared with previous months. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 360 000, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 6.8 percent. The unemployment rate was 6.4 percent among women and 7.1 percent among men. Among young people aged 15–24, both the number of unemployed persons and the unemployment rate continued to decrease. The number of unemployed young people amounted to 113 000 and the unemployment rate was 17.9 percent.
