Constuction cost index for buildings, May 2017:

Total construction costs increased by 2.7 percent

Factor Price Index for multi-dwelling buildings rose by 0.5 percent between April and May 2017. On an annual basis, factor prices rose by 2.7 percent.

Between April and May 2017, the Factor Price Index rose by 0.5 percent. Contractor’s costs rose by 0.6 percent.

Construction materials increased by 0.1 percent. The greatest price increase in construction materials in May was for electrical materials. Iron and steel, concrete products, woodwork, floor material, plumbing materials and other construction materials rose while wood products dropped. The prices for other groups of construction materials remained unchanged.

Investor’s costs increased by 0.1 percent. Interest rates increased again while white collar workers’ salaries, planning and general costs remained unchanged.

Factor Price Index increased by 2.7 percent between May 2016 and May 2017.

Contractor’s costs rose by 2.9 percent, which contributed to the total index rising by 2.4 percentage points.

With an increase of 4.5 percent between May 2016 and May 2017, the group Transport, fuel and electric power had major impact on contractor’s costs. Construction materials increased by 4.0 percent. Machinery rose by 2.3 percent. Expenses increased by 2.0 percent. Salaries increased by 1.8 percent.

Within the group Construction materials, reinforcement steel increased most, by 12.8 per cent. Other groups of construction materials rose, as well.

Investor’s costs increased by 1.8 percent on an annual basis.
