The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 2.2 percent in July 2018, which was the same as in June 2018. The CPIF increased by 0.5 percent from June to July. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF increased by 0.5 percent as well. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 2.1 percent in July 2018.
Price increases on package holidays (17.5 percent) contributed 0.3 percentage points to the change from June to July. Higher prices on international flights (26.4 percent), electricity (4.4 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.3 percent) contributed 0.2 percentage points each.
The increases were offset by a price decrease on clothing (-7.1 percent), which contributed 0.3 percentage points downward. Lower prices for accommodation services (-6.5 percent) affected the CPI downwards by 0.1 percentage point in July.
The CPI for July 2018 was 330.33 (1980=100).
The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 2.2 percent in July 2018, up from 2.1 percent in June. The HICP increased by 0.6 percent from June to July. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.6 percent.
