Inflation rate according to CPIF 2.1 percent

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 2.1 percent in May 2018, up from 1.9 percent in April 2018. The CPIF increased by 0.3 percent from April to May. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF increased by 0.1 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.9 percent in May 2018.

The increase in the CPI from April to May 2018 was mainly due to higher prices for food (0.9 percent), higher prices for fuel and lubricants (4.7 percent) and restaurants and lodging (0.8 percent), which contributed upwards by 0.1 percentage point each.

These increases were offset by lower electricity prices (-1.7 percent), which affected the CPI downwards by 0.1 percentage point in May.

The CPI for May 2018 was 327.86 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 2.0 percent in May 2018, up from 1.8 percent in April. The HICP increased by 0.3 percent from April to May. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP was unchanged.
