Inflation rate according to CPIF 1.7 percent

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 1.7 percent in February 2018, which was the same as January 2018. The CPIF increased by 0.7 percent from January to February. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF rose by 0.7 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.6 percent in February 2018.

The increase in the CPI from January to February 2018 was mainly due to a rise in prices on clothing (8.0 percent), which contributed 0.3 percentage point. Higher prices on package holidays (7.1 percent), transport services (3.1 percent) and energy (3.2 percent) contributed upwards by 0.1 percentage point each.

These increases were offset by lower prices for television, film and music services (-12.1 percent) and fuels (-2.0 percent), which both affected the CPI by 0.1 percentage point downwards.

The CPI for February 2018 was 324.87 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 1.6 percent in February 2018, which was the same as in January 2018. The HICP increased by 0.8 percent from January to February. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.7 percent.
