Producer and import price index, April 2018:

Higher energy prices affect import and export prices in April

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2018-05-24 9.30

Producer prices increased by 0.6 percent between March and April. In the same period, prices increased by 1.9 percent on the import market and by 1.7 percent on the export market. On the domestic market, prices decreased by 0.6 percent.

Domestic supply prices, that is, producer prices on the domestic and import markets together, increased by 0.6 percent between March and April.

Changes during the last month

On the export market, mainly higher prices on pulp, paper and paperboard contributed to the upturn, as well as higher prices on basic metals, machinery and equipment and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. The main contribution to the increase on the import market was higher crude oil prices. The increase was offset by lower electricity prices on all markets. On the domestic market, a seasonal normal downturn on prices on district heating contributed primarily to the decrease.

Changes during the last year

The annual rate has increased on all markets during 2018, in particular on the export market and import market. The annual rate of producer prices, that is, producer prices on the domestic and export markets together, increased by 4.9 percent. In the same period, prices increased by 6.5 percent on the import market and by 5.6 percent on the export market, which are the highest annual rates since July 2017. Domestic supply prices increased by 5.4 percent on an annual basis. On the domestic market, prices increased by 4.1 percent.
