Producer and import price index, February 2017:

Producer prices decreased in February 2017

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2017-03-28 9.30

Producer prices decreased by 0.8 percent between January and February. In the same period, prices decreased by 1.7 percent on the import market and by 1.6 percent on the export market, mainly due to an appreciation of the Swedish krona. Prices were unchanged on the domestic market.

Lower prices in several product groups contributed to the downturn on the import and the export market. On the import market, lower prices on crude oil, food, computers and other equipment accounted for the largest contribution to the decrease. On the export market, lower prices for other machines contributed most to the downturn. A stronger krona has largely contributed to price declines.

Prices for domestic supply decreased in February

Domestic supply, that is, producer prices on the domestic and import markets together, decreased by 0.8 percent from January to February. Prices increased by 7.8 percent compared with February last year.

Compared with February last year, producer prices have increased by 7.5 percent. In the same period, prices on the export market and the import market increased by 8.5 percent and by 9.3 percent respectively. On the domestic market, prices increased by 6.2 percent in the same period.
