Statistics Sweden’s Director-General Stefan Lundgren nominated Auditor-General

Pressmeddelande | 2017-02-02

Today, the Parliamentary Committee on the Constitution unanimously nominated Stefan Lundgren as new Auditor-General with administrative responsibility. Mr Lundgren will take office as one of three new Auditors-General on 15 March this year. His new appointment is for seven years.

Mr Lundgren has held the position of Director-General of Statistics Sweden since 2009, when he succeeded acting Director-General Mats Wadman.

"It is with mixed feelings that I am leaving Statistics Sweden and all the remarkable co-workers. At the same time, I am very honoured to be entrusted with the task of heading the Swedish National Audit Office," says Mr Lundgren.

Statistics Sweden is currently in the midst of a major phase of development and change. These efforts will carry on to ensure that the agency is well-equipped to face future challenges. The Government will appoint a temporary Director-General of Statistics Sweden in the near future.
