The number of unemployed persons amounted to 400 000. The unemployment rate was 7.6 percent. The number of hours worked averaged 162.1 million per week. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a continued increase in employment while unemployment, which amounted to 7.0 percent, shows small changes.
