In September 2016, there were 4 916 000 employed persons aged 15-74, not seasonally adjusted. This is an increase of 84 000 persons compared with September 2015. The number of unemployed persons decreased by 31 000 and amounted to 317 000. The unemployment rate was 6.1 percent, corresponding to a drop by 0.6 percentage points. The number of hours worked averaged 168.7 million per week. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a decrease in the employment rate and a slight decrease in the unemployment rate, which was 6.9 percent.
