Swedens population 2013
During 2013, 54 259 people sought asylum in Sweden. Close to one in three of these asylum seekers were Syrian citizens. In addition, 115 845 persons immigrated to Sweden; the most common reason for residence for non-Nordic citizens was to reunite with family members. New figures from the population statistics also show that the average life expectancy for men has exceeded age 80.
