MONA – Microdata Online Access

System for access to microdata at Statistics Sweden

MONA allows the user access to databases and carry out processing of the data via the Internet. However, the databases remain physically at Statistics Sweden.

Microdata becomes visible for the user on the computer screen and the results of the processing are sent in aggregated form via e-mail to the user for further processing.

The user can also store tables at Statistics Sweden for further processing.


Maintenance is carried out on a regular basis, see schedule below.

Avoid using the MONA system during maintenance.

  • 2017-05-05: Management Studio is updated to version 17. Remember to enter the correct server name at start (mq02\b or mq02\a).
  • 2017-03-06: R-studio is upgraded to version 1.0.136, Tinn-R is upgraded to version
  • 2017-02-23: STATA is upgraded to revision 09 January 2017.
  • 2017-02-20: R is updated to version 3.3.2
  • 2017-01-30: SAS is updated to version 9.4 TS1M4.
  • 2017-01-12: All users can now run MONA in a separate client, see the updated Instructions for more information.
  • 2017-01-09: The old login system for MONA is now closed.
  • 2016-12-08: The programs for MONA:s batch environment (MonaBatch and Batch Job Client) are replaces by one program (BatchClient). New instructions are avaliable in MONA.
  • 2016-10-07 Email was sent to all users urging all to move or delete files from MyDocuments. MONA move or delete (pdf) 
  • 2016-06-08: New login system (pdf)
  • 2015-11-18: LyX has now replaced previous LaTeX software.
