Statistics Sweden's environmental work

Statistics Sweden's operations affect the environment. That is why we constantly work on our environmental impact, following up and improving our operations.

Since December 2012, Statistics Sweden's environmental management system has been certified according to the international environmental management system ISO 14001. The certification includes all operations. The exceptions are those parts of Statistics Sweden's international developing cooperation that is conducted on site at the recipient countries, and interview operations that Statistics Sweden's field interviewers conduct from their own homes.

Our impact on the environment

Statistics Sweden is responsible for and produces official environmental statistics and other statistics that can function as a basis for decisions about environmental issues. The environmental statistics on their own have shown to be a positive environmental aspect.

The greatest negative environmental aspects for Statistics Sweden arise from purchasing and procurement as well as business trips.

To limit the negative environmental impact, Statistics Sweden needs to consider the environmental aspects from purchasing and procurement, as well as from business trips and meetings. All employees at Statistics Sweden receive training about the environmental management system and have their own responsibility to limit the negative environmental aspects. Information about Statistics Sweden’s environmental work is published regularly on the agency’s intranet.
