Statistics Sweden's databases are freely available according to the PSI directive

The EU's PSI directive is carried out in Sweden through the act (2010:566) on the re-use of public administration documents. Information at Statistics Sweden that applies to the PSI regulations are available free-of-charge in Statistics Sweden's databases.

PSI stands for "public sector information" and the purpose of the law is to facilitate individuals' use of documents that are provided by government agencies.

The act does not regulate the provision of documents or whether the re-use of documents is permitted. This is regulated in other regulations, such as Freedom of the Press Act and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009:400). Secrecy applies to information about individuals (both physical and legal persons) and is not covered in the PSI regulations. Nevertheless, Statistics Sweden can specially process registers to order for a fee.

However, information at Statistics Sweden that applies to the PSI regulations are available free-of-charge in Statistics Sweden's databases. The official statistics of Sweden and the Government Agencies Register are available in the free-of-charge information.
