Statistics Sweden, corporate ID number 202100-0837, address Åkullegatan 14, SE-701 89 Örebro, is the controller of personal data that is processed by Statistics Sweden. The agency can also be the processor of personal data in the production of statistics on behalf of another statistical agency.

What is considered personal data?

Under the GDPR, personal data means any information that relates to a directly or indirectly identified or identifiable living natural person. Typical personal data includes personal identity numbers, names and addresses; encrypted data and various types of electronic identifiers also constitute personal data if it can lead to the identification of a natural person.

Personal data that has been de-identified (pseudonymised), but can be used to re-identify a person remains personal data and falls within the scope of the GDPR.

What does processing of personal data mean?

Processing of personal data refers to, in principle, any operation performed on personal data, such as collecting, registering, storing, coordinating or printing out data. Statistics Sweden processes your personal data in the production of statistics and in its contact with you.

There are some exceptions to these rights. If your personal data forms part of a large sample of personal data for statistics, there are provisions that stipulate that Statistics Sweden does not have to inform you about when and how your personal data is processed in that sample.

In certain cases, you have the right to have your information corrected, deleted (“right to erasure”) or limited (“right to limitation of processing”). In certain cases, you also have the right to be given and to use your personal data elsewhere (“right to data portability”) and the right to object to the use of your personal data.

You have the right to access information on the personal data that we process about you and receive a copy of the personal data free of charge (register transcript).

Register transcript in accordance with the GDPR

Statistics Sweden does not process personal data for automated decision-making.

If you believe that Statistics Sweden is processing data relating to you in a way that contravenes the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish Data Protection Authority.
