  • One in four is at risk of poverty

    Among the population in Sweden aged 16–65, 12 percent have disability. This is equivalent to 786 000 individuals. Approximately 8 percent of the population aged 16-65 report having disability that reduces their ability to work. Among people with disability, 63 percent are in the labour force. This is considerably lower than among the rest of the population aged 16–65 without disability, of whom 88 percent were in the labour force in 2025.

  • One out of three has been subjected to discrimination

    In the population aged 16–65, approximately 778 000 people have a disability, which corresponds to about 12 percent. Just over 8 percent have a disability that reduces their ability to work. Labour force participation is lower among people with disability than in the rest of the population, 65 percent compared to 88 percent.

  • Non-employed people with disability 2023

    In this analysis, Statistics Sweden try to expand the knowledge about the situation in the labour market for non-employed people with disabilities. We examine how the group looks in terms of various background factors and their previous work experience and self-assessed health.

  • Every third person with disability has faced discrimination at work

    One in three people with disability have felt discriminated against in their working life related to their disability. The most common type of discrimination is not getting a job one was adequately qualified for.
