  • Nearly 5.3 million dwellings in Sweden

    At the end of December 2025 there were 5 291 493 dwellings in Sweden. Among these, 41 percent were in one- or two-dwelling buildings, 52 percent were in multi-dwelling buildings, 6 percent were in special housing and 1 percent were in other buildings.

  • 36 percent of holiday homes in Kronoberg County have foreign owners

    In Sweden 38 133 holiday homes were owned by foreign owners in 2025, foreign ownership thus amounts to 6 percent of the total holiday home stock. There are major regional differences in the share of foreign owned holiday homes: 36 percent in Kronoberg compared with 0.3 percent in Uppsala.

    In Sweden 37 973 holiday homes were owned by foreign owners in 2024, which is a marginal decrease compared to the previous year. Foreign ownership thus amounts to 6 percent of the total holiday home stock in the country.

  • Just over 5.2 million dwellings in Sweden

    At the end of December 2023 there were 5 212 028 dwellings in Sweden. Among these, 2 129 193 dwellings (41 percent) were in one- or two-dwelling buildings, 2 720 424 (52 percent) were in multi-dwelling buildings, 283 437 (5 percent) were in special housing and 78 974 (2 percent) were in other buildings.
