  • Nearly half of Swedish voters in the European Parliament election voted in advance

    Just under half, 48 percent, of all voters in the 2024 European Parliament election voted in advance. It was more common among women, 49 percent, than among men, 46 percent. Older voters cast advance votes to a greater extent than younger voters. The highest proportion of advance voting was found in municipalities in northern Sweden.

  • First-time voter turnout increased in the Swedish 2024 EU election

    Swedish voter turnout in the 2024 European Parliament elections decreased by two percentage points. However, among first-time voters, the proportion who voted increased by one percentage point. There are differences in voter turnout among first-time voters, the greatest between those whose parents voted and those who did not.

    The European Parliament election in Sweden was held on Sunday 26 May 2019. Voter turnout was 55 percent, higher than the average in the EU and four percentage points more than in the 2014 European Parliament elections.
