  • Unchanged interest in studies during the corona pandemic

    In the autumn of 2021, the interest in studies among third-year upper secondary students remained the same as in previous years. Around 75 percent of students in university preparatory programmes and about 30 percent of students in vocational programmes intended to continue their studies.

  • Three in four pupils in higher education preparatory programmes intend to continue studies

    In autumn 2019, around 75 percent of pupils in upper secondary school year 3 in higher education preparatory programmes intended to continue their studies. The corresponding percentage among pupils in vocational programmes was around 30 percent. There were no differences between the sexes who attended higher education preparatory programmes and vocational programmes.

  • Six out of ten upper secondary school pupils in year 3 plan to start university studies

    In autumn 2017, six out of ten upper secondary school pupils in year 3 planned to start university studies within three years. Among pupils studying in a higher education preparatory programme, about 80 percent had plans to undertake further studies, compared with 25 percent among those who study a vocational programme.

  • Interest for higher education greater among women

    Six out of ten upper secondary students graduating in the 2015/16 academic year plan to start university studies within three years. The percentage among women is about 65 percent compared to 55 percent among men.

  • Interest for higher education greater among women

    Six out of ten upper secondary students graduating in the 2013/14 academic year plan to start university studies within three years. The percentage is higher among women (69 percent) compared to men (48 percent).
