Household consumption increased in April 2025

Household consumption increased by 0.5 percent in April 2025, measured in seasonally adjusted figures, compared with March 2025. Compared with April 2024, household consumption increased by 2.7 percent, measured in constant prices and working day adjusted figures. In the last three-month period, consumption increased by 1.9 percent compared with the same period a year ago, measured in constant prices and working day adjusted figures.

On a year-on-year basis and measured in working day adjusted figures, most of the sectors had positive growth rates. Retail trade, mostly food and beverages, increased by 3.0 percent. Transport and retail sales and service of motor vehicles, which is another sector with high weight in the indicator, increased by 4.6 percent. Clothing and footwear was one of the sectors that decreased compared to April 2024. The sector decreased by 1.1 percent measured in constant prices and working day adjusted figures.

On a monthly basis, Transport and retail sales and service of motor vehicles showed the largest positive development with an increase of 2.5 percent measured in constant prices and seasonally adjusted figures. Post and telecommunications was the sector with the largest negative development with a decrease of 3.2 percent.
