Trade in goods by invoicing currency (TIC)

TIC presents Sweden’s trade in goods with countries outside the EU, broken down by invoicing currency. The data used in TIC is obtained from the import and export declarations submitted by companies to the Swedish customs authority. The statistics were published for the first time on 21 October 2026, both in tabular form and as a statistical news release. These are available further down on this page. Going forward, the statistics will be published once a year during spring.

Microdata exchange (MDE) 

Starting September 30, 2026, two new tables regarding export and import of goods will be published on this page. The tables can be found under Tables in the Statistical Database below. These tables, currently under development, contain data from January 2026 onwards. What distinguishes these tables from the standard adjusted for non-response (and confidential data excluded) export and import tables published monthly on the Foreign trade in goods product page is the source data used for trade below the reporting threshold. The new import table utilizes data from the microdata exchange (MDE) of arrival data between member states. Using MDE data for trade below the threshold allows for a more accurate distribution of trade across commodity codes and countries compared to the current method. For the new export table, data from VIES (VAT Information Exchange System) is used for trade below the threshold, resulting in a better country distribution than the current method.

The plan is to publish the new tables containing data for the full year 2026 and—barring any unforeseen circumstances—for them to replace the standard adjusted for non-response (and confidential data excluded) export and import tables starting with the publication of data for 2027. This initial step is being taken to enhance quality. In the longer term, the aim is to reduce the reporting burden on importing companies by raising the threshold for imports while simultaneously making greater use of MDE data.

STEC and TEC

STEC (Service Trade by Enterprise Characteristics) and TEC (Trade by Enterprise Characteristics) link statistics on foreign trade with information about enterprise characteristics. The statistics are based on data that EU and EFTA countries report to Eurostat. Read more at Eurostat:
