Orders in industry increased in March

Total orders in industry increased by 3.9 percent in March 2022 compared with February, in seasonally adjusted figures. Compared with March 2021, total orders in industry increased by 6.5 percent in calendar-adjusted figures.
Compared with the previous month, the largest increase was recorded in the industry for fabricated metal products, which increased by 8.3 percent. The largest decrease was recorded in the electronic equipment industry, which decreased by 33.5 percent. Total orders in industry increased on both the domestic and the export market compared with February. The domestic market increased by 3.5 percent and the export market increased by 5.3 percent, in seasonally adjusted figures.
Total orders in industry increased on an annual basis
In March 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak started to significantly impact orders in industry, which should be taken into account when comparing annual development statistics.
On an annual basis, total orders in industry increased by 6.5 percent compared with March 2021, in calendar-adjusted figures. Orders received from customers in Sweden increased by 4.0 percent and orders received from customers abroad increased by 8.2 percent.
Total orders in industry in February revised
The figures for March are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the seasonally adjusted monthly development in February compared with January has been revised upwards by 0.3 percentage points to a decline by 1.1 percent. The calendar-adjusted development in February compared with February a year ago, has been revised downwards by 0.2 percentage points to an upturn by 1.1 percent.

Definitions and explanations
Revisions
When the orders index and the turnover index for a new month are published, the indices for previous months are also revised. The material is normally revised for between two and four months retroactively, depending on which month of the quarter is the reference month. The whole previous quarter is revised when publishing the first and second months of a quarter. Calendar adjusted figures, seasonally adjusted figures and trend figures are revised from January 2000 onwards.
