Orders in industry decreased in April

Total orders in industry decreased by 2.0 percent in April 2022 compared with March, in seasonally adjusted figures. Compared with April 2021, total orders in industry increased by 7.4 percent in calendar-adjusted figures.
Compared with the previous month, the largest decrease was recorded in the textile industry, down -11.8 percent, while the largest increase was recorded in the electronic equipment industry, up 106.9 percent. Total orders in industry decreased on both the domestic and the export market compared with March. The domestic market decreased by 0.9 percent and the export market decreased by 2.7 percent, in seasonally adjusted figures.
Total orders in industry increased on an annual basis
In March 2020, the COVID-19 outbreak started to significantly impact orders in industry, which should be taken into account when comparing annual development statistics.
On an annual basis, total orders in industry increased by 7.4 percent compared with April 2021, in calendar-adjusted figures. Orders received from customers in Sweden increased by 4.2 percent and orders received from customers abroad increased by 9.0 percent.
Total orders in industry in March revised
The figures for April are preliminary. Since the previous publication, the seasonally adjusted monthly development in March compared with February has been revised downwards by 0.2 percentage points to an upturn by 3.7 percent. The calendar-adjusted development in March compared with March a year ago, has been revised upwards by 0.1 percentage points to an upturn by 6.6 percent.

Definitions and explanations
Revisions
When the orders index and the turnover index for a new month are published, the indices for previous months are also revised. The material is normally revised for between two and four months retroactively, depending on which month of the quarter is the reference month. The whole previous quarter is revised when publishing the first and second months of a quarter. Calendar adjusted figures, seasonally adjusted figures and trend figures are revised from January 2000 onwards.
