Significant increase in women's level of education

The level of education in the population has risen sharply over the past 25 years. Among women, the proportion of highly educated people has more than doubled, while the rate of increase has not been as high among men.
The proportion of highly educated women has increased from 17 to 39 per cent between 2000 and 2025. The proportion of highly educated men has increased from 15 to 25 per cent during the same period. At the same time, the proportion of people whose highest level of education is primary and lower secondary education has decreased. Here, the differences between men and women are the same throughout the period. The proportion of women with a primary and lower secondary education has decreased from 19 to 8 per cent and the corresponding proportion among men has decreased from 22 to 11 per cent.
