Costs for pre-school education continued to increase

The total cost for the educational system increased by 7.3 percent during the period 2010–2014. Costs for pre-school education increased by 18 percent over the five-year period.
During the same period the number of enrolled children increased by 6 percent. Costs for tertiary education have increased by 6 percent since 2010. The number of full-time students decreased by 6.4 percent. Costs for upper secondary school decreased by 4,8 percent, while costs for compulsory school increased by 5.2 percent during that same period.
Comparisons are based on constant prices.

Costs per pupil in upper secondary school have risen 13.4 percent
Costs for a pupil in upper secondary school in 2014 were SEK 112 400, an increase of 13.4 percent since 2010. Costs per pupil in compulsory school have increased by SEK 6 500 during the period 2010–2014 and amounted to SEK 97 000. This is an increase of 7.1 percent. Costs per student in tertiary education ware SEK 74 700 in 2014.
Sweden in thirteenth place among OECD countries
The OECD average for education costs' share of GDP in 2011 was 6.1 percent. Among OECD countries, Denmark had the highest share, 7.9 percent. Iceland was in second place with 7.7 and Sweden came in thirteenth place with 6.3 percent.
