The number of employed and employment rate increased among men

In July 2017, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 5 164 000, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 105 000 persons compared with July 2016. The number of unemployed persons amounted to 362 000 and the unemployment rate was 6.6 percent. The number of hours worked averaged 98.0 million per week. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the number of employed persons and small changes in the unemployment rate, which was 6.7 percent.

In July 2017, the number of employed persons aged 15–74 was 5 164 000, not seasonally adjusted. This was an increase of 105 000 compared with July 2016. The number of employed men increased by 70 000 to 2 703 000, while the number of employed women amounted to 2 461 000. The employment rate amounted to 69.8 percent, an increase of 0.7 percentage points. Among men, the employment rate was 71.9 percent, an increase of 1.0 percentage points. Among women it was 67.6 percent. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a continued increase in the number of employed persons and small changes in the employment rate, compared with recent months. The number of employed persons was 5 015 000 in July 2017, which corresponds to an employment rate of 67.7 percent.

The number of employees aged 15–74 in July 2017 amounted to 4 683 000, not seasonally adjusted. Compared with July 2016, this was an increase of 110 000. The number of permanent employees in the same period amounted to 3 761 000, an increase of 61 000. The number of temporary employees increased by 49 000 to 922 000. Compared with nearby months, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the number of permanent employees, while the number of temporary employees is decreasing.

On average, the number of hours worked in July 2017 amounted to 98.0 million per week, not seasonally adjusted. According to calendar adjusted figures, there is no significant difference compared with July 2016. Smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows a continued increase in the number of hours worked per week. In July 2017, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data amounted to 152.1 million hours worked per week.

In July 2017, the number of unemployed persons aged 15–74 amounted to 362 000, not seasonally adjusted, corresponding to an unemployment rate of 6.6 percent. The number of unemployed men amounted to 193 000 and the number of unemployed women amounted to 169 000. The unemployment rate among men was 6.7 percent and among women it was 6.4 percent. The number of unemployed young people aged 15–24 was 109 000. The unemployment rate among young people was 14.4 percent.

Among people aged 15–74, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows an increase in the number of unemployed persons and small changes in the unemployment rate. The number of unemployed persons was 363 000 in July 2017, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 6.7 percent. Among young people aged 15–24, smoothed and seasonally adjusted data shows small changes in the number of unemployed persons and an increase in the unemployment rate. The number of young people who were unemployed was 112 000, which corresponds to an unemployment rate of 18.0 percent.
