Sweden’s GDP grew 1.7 percent in second quarter

Sweden’s GDP increased by 1.7 percent in the second quarter of 2017, seasonally adjusted and compared with the first quarter of 2017. The GDP increased by 4.0 percent, working-day adjusted and compared with the second quarter of 2016.

Household consumption increased by 1.1 percent and general government consumption expenditures remained unchanged, seasonally adjusted and compared with the previous quarter. Changes in inventories contributed 0.3 percentage points to the GDP in the second quarter. Gross fixed capital formation increased by 3.8 percent. Both exports and imports grew by 0.7 percent. Market production of goods and services increased by 2.2 percent, seasonally adjusted. Production of goods rose by 3.0 percent, and service-producing industries grew by 1.7 percent. Employment measured as the total number of hours worked were unchanged, and the number of persons employed increased by 0.6 percent.
