Population statistics, 1 Jan–30 June 2017:

Reduced immigration from Syria in the first six months of the year

Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2017-08-18 9.30

In January 2017, Sweden’s population exceeded 10 million inhabitants. On 30 June 2017, at the end of the first six months of the year, the population was 10 053 061 people. Consequently, the population has increased by 57 908 people since the beginning of the year.

This increase was chiefly due to a large immigration surplus, and all counties except Norrbotten had an increase in population. Compared with the first six months of 2016, immigration has increased by 3 percent. Nearly every fifth immigrant was born in Syria, but this is still a 15 percent reduction compared with last year.
