Multiple million mark milestones in 2017

In early 2017, a historic population milestone was reached, as Sweden’s population hit the ten million mark.

During the year, the population increased by 125 089 people and on New Year's Eve there were 10 120 242 people entered in the Swedish population register. At the end of 2016, men passed the 5 million mark, and by May 2017, women passed the same mark. At the end of the year, there were 5 037 580 women and 5 082 662 men residing in Sweden.
