Statistical news from Statistics Sweden 2022-03-22 8.00

Life expectancy for both men and women has increased steadily in Sweden for a long time. In 2020, life expectancy fell unusually much because of the high number of deaths due to COVID-19. In 2021, 6 166 fewer deaths than the previous year was registered, and life expectancy increased with 0.61 years for men and with 0.53 years for women. Life expectancy is with that back on the same level as before the COVID-19 pandemic.
