Sweden’s population was 10 521 556 people at the end of 2022. In 2022, the population increased by 69 230 people or 0.7 percent. The population increase is mainly explained by an immigration surplus of 51 844 people.

In 2022, 104 734 children were born in Sweden. Boys accounted for 51.4 percent and girls accounted for 48.6 percent of the newborns. Compared with the previous year, the number of births decreased with 9 529 or 8.3 percent. It was the lowest number of births since 2005.
