Inflation rate according to CPIF 2.4 percent

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 2.4 percent in October 2018 (2.5 percent in September). The CPIF decreased by 0.1 percent from September to October. In the corresponding period last year, the CPIF also decreased by 0.1 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 2.3 percent in October (2.3 percent in September).

Price decreases on package holidays (-7.3 percent) and fruit (-5.7 percent) each contributed 0.1 percentage point downwards to the change in the CPI from September to October.

This fall was offset by higher prices on transport services (2.0 percent), which contributed 0.1 percentage point to the change in the CPI from September to October.

The CPI for October 2018 was 330.72 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 2.4 percent in October 2018, down from 2.5 percent in September. The HICP decreased by 0.2 percent from September to October. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP decreased by 0.1 percent.
