Inflation rate according to CPIF was 1.7 percent in December

The inflation rate according to the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) was 1.7 percent in December 2019, unchanged from November to December. The CPIF increased by 0.4 percent from November to December. In the corresponding period a year ago, the CPIF also increased by 0.4 percent. The inflation rate according to the CPI was 1.8 percent in December 2019.

Higher prices for international flights (36.1 percent) and package holidays (16.9 percent) contributed 0.2 percentage point each upwards to the change from November to December.

These increases were offset mainly by lower prices for electricity (-2.4 percent), which contributed downwards to the CPI by 0.1 percentage point.

The CPI for December 2019 was 337.68 (1980=100).

The inflation rate according to the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 1.7 percent, down from 1.8 percent in November. The HICP increased by 0.4 percent from November to December. In the corresponding period last year, the HICP increased by 0.5 percent.
