Producer and import price index , November 2016

November saw a continued rise in producer prices

Producer prices in total increased 1.3 percent between October and November. In the same period, prices increased 1.5 percent on the export market and 1.0 percent on the import market. On the domestic market, prices increased 1.1 percent.

Higher prices for electricity accounted for the largest contribution to the upturn on the domestic market in November. On the export market, higher prices for basic metals contributed to the increase. On the import market, primarily lower prices for crude oil counteracted the upturn.

Prices for domestic supply, that is, producer prices on the domestic and import markets together, increased 1.0 percent from October to November and 3.2 percent compared with November last year.

Compared with November last year, producer prices in total have increased 3.6 percent. In the same period, prices on the export market and the import market increased 3.9 percent and 3.0 percent respectively. On the domestic market prices have increased 3.4 percent in the same period.

Changes in exchange rates in November

An appreciation or depreciation of the Swedish currency has a tendency to lower or raise export and import prices in Swedish kronor. According to Swedish Customs exchange rates, the Swedish krona depreciated against the Norwegian Krone by 4.3 percent, against the US dollar by 2.6 percent, against the Danish Krone by 1.3 percent and against the Euro by 1.2 percent. The Swedish currency appreciated against the British Pound by 3.0 percent.
