Service prices rose in second quarter

The Service Producer Price Index increased by 0.5 percent between the first and the second quarter of 2017. The corresponding change in the previous quarter was an increase of 0.8 percent.
Since the second quarter of 2016, the Service Producer Price Index has increased by 1.7 percent, which is the highest annual rate change since the second quarter of 2012. The corresponding annual rate for the previous quarter was an upturn of 1.3 percent.
Main contributors to the quarterly upturn were higher prices for Real estate services, Hotels and similar accommodation, Other transportation support activities and Computer programming, consultancy and related activities, that each contributed 0.1 percentage points.

Definitions and explanations
New product classification
From this publication, the Producer Price Index for Services (SPPI) is published according to both SPIN 2007 and SPIN 2015. Price indices according to both product classifications will be available during 2017 and 2018. In 2019, price indices will only be available according to SPIN 2015. From the publication of indices for the first quarter of 2018, the dissemination in the statistical news will be based on SPIN 2015, with base year 2015=100. Users are recommended to start using SPIN 2015 when it is available.
