Service prices increased for the fifth consecutive quarter

The Service Producer Price Index increased by 0.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2018 to the first quarter of 2019. Since the first quarter of 2018, the Service Producer Price Index has increased by 1.6 percent. The corresponding annual rate in the previous quarter was 1.7 percent.
Changes during the last quarter
The main upward contributor in the first quarter was higher prices for rental and operating services of own or leased real estate. Furthermore, higher prices on support services for transportation, and computer programming, consultancy and related services, contributed to the upturn.
The quarterly rise was offset by a decline in prices on telecommunication services, accommodation services and travel agency and tour operator services.
