Household consumption decreased in April

Household consumption decreased by 10.0 percent in April, compared with April 2019 measured in fixed prices and working day adjusted figures. In the last three-month period, consumption decreased by 4.8 percent in fixed prices and working day adjusted figures, compared with the same period a year ago. Household consumption decreased by 4.8 percent in seasonally adjusted figures compared with March.

The largest weighted negative contribution came from the sector Transport and retail sales and service of motor vehicles, which decreased by 29.3 percent in fixed prices compared with April a year ago.

Housing, electricity, gas and heating accounted for the largest weighted positive contribution to total consumption and increased by 2.5 percent in fixed prices compared with April a year ago.

Prices increased by 0.3 percent according to the consumption deflator.
